The Importance of Giving Tuesday
November 27, 2018
Giving Tuesday is a national movement to support nonprofit organizations at the start of the holiday season.
This important event allows organizations to connect with a new donor base that will hopefully continue to give financial support in the years to come. Online giving amounts tend to be higher, as well. In 2016, the median online gift was $178 while the median offline gift of less than $1,000 was $20 (source).
Locally, we have #givingtuesdayNWO, hosted by the Toledo Community Foundation, which raised more than $700,000 for area nonprofits in 2017.
Organizations registered to participate in this local fundraising initiative also have an opportunity to receive an unrestricted grant of $5,000.
MadAveCollective has worked with several participating organizations, including:
- Autism Model School
- Black Swamp Conservancy
- Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo
- Dental Center of Northwest Ohio
- Erie Shores Council, Boy Scouts of America
- Family House
- Mom’s House
- 577 Foundation
- Women of Toledo
The full list of local organizations participating in #givingtuesdayNWO can be found here: http://www.toledocf.org/clientuploads/doc/GivingTuesday/Intent_to_Participate_Nov._26.pdf
Any support you can give today is much appreciated.
